Institute evaluated education/literacy progarmmes (adult education, drop outs) of the state in the past.
The Institute is designated as the lead institute in monitoring and evaluating Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Programme since 2003 and the efforts have been intensified with larger coverage since 2006 till date.
Studies are undertaken dealing with schooling of migrant workers’ children, early childhood care and girls’ education. Microscopic study has been conducted on the status of elementary education and monitoring indicators have been developed
The Institute has the privilege to be associated with conducting policy level study on ‘Efficacy of Management Structure’ at regional level in order to strengthen the Elementary Education in Orissa.
Among the health issues, the Institute is involved in assessing the quality of drinking water, decentralization of drinking water system in attaining drinking water security.
Areas of concern that are now receiving emphasis include assessment of human resource flows, physical and social infrastructure, weaker sections, gender issues, social exclusion, rural technology choices, value chain mechanism and tribal economy.
The Institute is also involved in development of human development indices at district level on initiation from the Government of Gujarat; the Institute has recently completed the Human Development Reports of Sabarkantha and Kheda.
